With their mid 20s slipping away and their 30s not too far away Alan Wells and Tom Henson-Webb have decided now is the time to embark on another adventure, cycling from Tierra del Fuego, Argentina to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Careers etc put to one side the two cyclists plan to cover the 19,000 miles over 18 months (ish).
Setting off in March 2012 and funding the trip from their own (currently pretty bare) pockets, the aim is to raise awareness and as much money as possible for Medecins Sans Frontieres.
ALAN
Having only finished a ride from London to Cape Town in May 2010 Alan has decided that that’s not far enough! What can I say, the guy craves saddle soreness! Currently based in Coventry Alan is probably the mechanic of the duo. You can see Alan and Ian’s ride at http://www.eyeonafrica.co.uk
TOM
Just as Alan was finishing his Cape Town ride Tom received an email simply titled ‘Fancy a ride’. Contained within was a crude route Alan had drawn across South America. Tom had followed Alan and Ian’s (a mutual friend) trek across Africa and had died a little with jealousy each day. There was no way he was missing out a second time.
Hopefully the full Longest Road site will be up soon. If you wish to contact either of the soon to be nomads please do so on:
